A little Missile Command inspired game. Protect Planet I from invasion.
- Use arrow keys to move the cursor
- Shoot lasers from the planet's eye by pressing <z>
- Button mashing is encouraged, no limits, let loose!
Something about the cursor speed/accel feels like it's intentionally hard to aim.
Sweet visuals, well-fit music
The original used a trackball to aim so I tried to emulate that feel, not sure if I succeeded or not.
Thanks for the compliments!
nice! the original had limited shots which added to the tension.
nice work though!
yeah... I took some liberties on my implementation to make it faster, more streamlined, with more focus on fast triggering action.
The original also had a delay from when you pressed to when your laser connected to aiming spot. And also, connecting to a missile triggered another blast. I didn't feel either of these were worth implementing though.
I'm glad you guys like it!
Great but WHOLLY SMOKES this game is fast ! The original Missile Command had slower missiles coming in and you had to ration your counter-attack shot supply additionally.
Thoughtful and correct precision is what would save the day. Also, they would come in waves, so you had levels of play. Less to begin with, then more, then faster and more.
Some bonuses you might include could be a SMART BOMB, key (X), and maybe even a TIME STOP for a short while, (hit both buttons).
Yeah, some of the design decisions I made were aimed towards making a quick action-packed and tense experience. Not sure if I achieved it but even I panic a little when I play it myself.
The smart bomb and the time stop bonuses sound like interesting ideas. Might consider implementing them when I revisit this game in the future.
Music really adds to the sense of tension, great job!
Edit: PS, why "war games"?
Thanks spade! It's my last name: "Guerra"... My name is war! (but I'm a pacifist IRL)
