Move with Left and Right
Plant Bouncy Mushroom seed with Down.

This is a character I designed back when i was writing a lot of 6502 ASM for the NES. Really having a blast with Pico-8, its pretty much everything I ever wanted.

Very cool. Like the mechanic of planting a bouncy mushroom. Didn't notice the limit right away so had to start over a few times but nice. Just keep thinking I'm controlling Papa Smurf :)

Ah, I finally escaped from the swamp! Nice game, very funny c: Try to extend it in the future, or add more levels. Good work with the sprites and the artwork.

I think if I made a manual like lots of retro games had (pre-being-retro) things wouldve been clearer. The seeds to plant more shrooms actually regenerate after a while. Thanks for playing!!!

@Ramayaben Thanks! I definitely feel like we will see Wax again on Pico-8, but this is probably it for his swamp escape. I used this as my learning tool for Lua/Pico-8 and I think Im ready to try writing something new afresh. Thanks for playing!!!

It's a fun game to play, and the concept of "limited and fixed but reusable jumps" is really interesting, and I love it. I didn't notice at all the seeds were regenerating on themselves, maybe a little progress bar would be cool?
Also, I don't know if it is just me, but I really don't appreciate the music. At my ear it feels like random notes. Maybe train yourself on that aspect. But it's not a real problem, I've just turned off my sound!
While playing the game, I felt like the physics was very primitive, Wax was really rigid to move, and when scrolling platforms were ahead, it was a bit frustrating. Some smooth acceleration would have been cool.

Anyways, it's actually fun to play, and very clever. At the moment, I couldn't have made something like this, so I'm talking as a player (and as a chiptune artist), not as a maker.

@Adzetko Im soooo super super super awful with sound. Its something I have a great deal of trouble with. And thanks for the feedback, the moving platforms for sure are a bit glitchy, and your right, there isnt any acceleration. I think the seeds having a regen bar, or countdown would be a great UX improvement too, this is all great feedback.

Im working on my next Pico-8 game already, inspired by a CSS-only doodle I did, but taken to the next level (http://codepen.io/william-index/pen/qOrXON), its a different genre, but Ill apply this feedback as I can and smooth out some interactions.

Wax was very much a learning project for me to figure out Pico-8. I promise dramatic improvement on future titles, BUT cant promise much in the way of sound. Random notes is probably my limit. :(
