Hello everyone :)

I just made it public on pico-8 Slack's group. A couple weeks ago I created an api to use on my experiments with PICO-8. I used Kimono to scrape the BBS every 24 hours.

I had not made it public yet because I don't know if Zep'd be ok with that... and sometimes I'm too lazy to ask hahah. So hey @zep, are you ok with that? It makes just a few requests per day to the BBS... It's updated every 24 hours and makes one request per carts page. So I don't think it's gonna hurt the BBS's performance.

So here's the json api and here's a page with (hopefully) all carts.

And finally here's the api docs.

@zep please let me know if it's ok so I'll create a Github repo to document and track issues of the api.

wow, didn't know about kimono... just wow

Hi,
Did you remove the api?
Regards,
jihem

@jihem I was using the Kimono Labs service but it's shutdown :(

I'm trying to migrate it to another service but it's not going very well. I'd write my own scraper but I have neither the time nor the energy to do it now.

I made it (twice because the site has changed) using Lua and the Harvester lib. I have made 2 zips (one for the cc and another for the other cartridges). I'm the president of a french pico not-for-profit organization. We give the cc zipped cartridges to our members. So we can work with common ressources.

Hey, that's very nice.

Can you share your experience with the org? Do you guys have a site/blog?

I ask because I'm planning to do a similar thing here in Brazil. Teaching kids game programming and stuff like that.

Never mind. I've found on LinkedIn and theres a link for your site there.

PICOSCOPE - I like that name :)

Unfortunately, I cant' read french.

@felipebueno Google/Microsoft/Yandex translate?

Also, did you try kimono alternative import.io?

Well, I don't know if you are trying to be helpful or sarcastic there. Of course I know I can use one of those services to translate the text. But thanks anyway :P

I didn't try this import.io yet. I'm going to take a look at it as soon as possible. Thanks!

@felipebuano

@zep too ;-)

Be free to contact me if you need information. We are working to produce subtitles for our videos and to translate the tutos in english. Our priority is to produce French content because before we start, there was none. Right now, I'm pretty busy. I'm writing a monkey2 framework to ease the translation of pico-8 cartridges. I would like to release a VCT enhanced version this way.
