Rules

The game should teach itself, but if you have any specific questions, they should be answered below

Summoning phase

  • Each player starts with 6 cards, and at the start of the turn draws a card.
  • At the start of each turn, if you have less than 6 mana, you gain an additional mana.
  • Summon demons by spending their mana cost. You can place them in one of three rows, either at the front or the back
    • Each demon has a type, each with a unique ability, an attack score, and a starting health.
    • Some also have an ability which triggers when they're summoned

Combat Phase

  • The demon at the front of each row attacks, if able (see special rules)
  • The demon who defends the attack takes damage
    • The defending demon is usually the demon at the front, unless the attacker is a ghost (see special rules)
    • If there is no defending demon, the player takes damage instead

Game end

  • The game ends when either player runs out of health. If this happens simultaneously for both players, the opponent wins

Special Rules

  • Elemental - No special rules
  • Ghost - Cannot be blocked by Beasts, and cannot be blocked by Objects unless they've been animated. Ghosts animate all friendly objects on their row
  • Object - Cannot attack, unless they are animated by a Ghost.
  • Beast - Cannot block Ghosts

New game plus reward

The new game plus mode is hard. It requires a lot of luck and skill to get a powerful enough deck to defeat all the opponents without being slowly whittled down little by little. This is why the first player to provide video evidence of them beating new game plus gets to suggest a demon to be added to the game in their honor. (Without save scumming, that is)

18 beat - NG+ no.7 is toughest IMO.

This is excellent. It so happens that it released only about a week after I was looking for roguelike deck-builder games on pico8 to find surprisingly few. I am a particular fan of the combos you can get from elementals.

Had a lot of fun on stream with it, first part of my very first experience is up!

Once again, I'm really loving the game, cannot wait to have a good chance at ng+! The whole glowup is amazing, and I'm super glad I was part of play testing, and for the fact that there are many new changes I can explore!
