This is a work in progress zelda-like. The goal I set for myself was to use a single item in a variety of ways.

I have a few questions for anyone who would like to leave their feedback.

Thank you for playing!

Controls

Up, down, right, left to move.

When you have the artifact:

Hold X to aim artifact.
Release X to throw.
Hold X to call back

When you have the shadow powerup:

Hold Z while throwing or calling back the artifact
to leave a shadow.

Playtest Questions

How does the artifact feel to control?

How does the game-world feel to be in?

How do you feel about the characters?

Was there anything that felt too hard or too easy?

Is there anything you would change about this game if you could?

To answer some of your questions

  1. its simple but feels good - but no sounds. The shadow ability is a bit odd and tricky to use

  2. Game feels very interesting. Love the alien, scifi but ancient feel. Unusual colour choices. Certainly the selling point for me.

  3. Story/Characters is mysterious and interesting. Willing to explore more.

  4. Spoiler -

well certainly confusing and still cant see how to get through some areas. Was able to get to the breakout enemy but then the artifact doesn't have the range to get to it or break beyond the first layer of bricks -- I'm confused how to progress

  5. lot of room for polish and more particles and maybe more initial initial areas to flesh out story.

Thank you for your feedback, @TheGacko, this is really helpful! I'm currently working on a new version, focused on scaffolding for the puzzles, and making the story a bit more clear.

About the confusing part:

that block below the enemy bounces the artifact on collision. if you call the artifact back to hit it from the other side then you can bounce the artifact to hit the blocks and the boss. let go of x right after the bounce or you'll apply a force on the artifact back toward you. I agree that this is all a bit confusing, and am thinking about how to make this easier. (probably by making simpler puzzles that teach how the artifact works.)

Again, thank you for playing and for leaving a comment!
