SOKOVILLE is a game I have been working on for a few months in Love2D. At its core, it is a sokoban-like puzzle game. You solve puzzles throughout the world, which enable you to help characters in that world.
A simple example is: There is a boy in the town who is missing his dog. You're in the forest and you come across the dog. You need to push blocks to make a way out of the forest, and you also need to push the dog out of the forest and back to its owner.
This Pico-8 version is a demake of sorts, and is way for me to make a proof of concept for the game. It is meant to be a lightweight implementation , whose primary purpose is to get feedback for the main game.

1- Updated tasks to set expectations after completing all tasks and ensure player knows what's next. Fixed some wording for NPCs to be more clear. Change 'Save the BBQ' completion condition.
Nice expansion of the classic.
So we're done when we've filled in this? The people wanting to play Boggle and find Buckley are there for color?
Hey Cowirrie, thanks for trying it out!
Yeah, the remarks about Buckley and Boggle are there for color.
There is actually an end screen at the top of the map (need boots and gloves to get to it)
I should probably add a task to direct players up there though...
Won the game but didn't save the BBQ, not sure what NPC was needing it.
The jump ability lets you jump off the map.
Some puzzles become non puzzles once you get the gloves.
OK experience overall, thanks for making the game.

Ah, it was supposed to go into the grill next to

Right now I'm thinking

Actually, after thinking about it, I think I'll just make it so you give the guy the propane instead of putting it into the grill.
Thanks for bringing this up.
And good catch on jumping off the map. That was on my todo list to fix at one point but lost track of it.
Thanks for playing :)
Nice short game based on Sokoban.
I can solve all puzzles fine but I figured out that I could push multiple objects at once late in the game. Oh well, I could've done this quicker had I known that.
Speaking of objects, the propane doesn't look like propane tank to me. I didn't realize until I remember about BBQ.
BTW should boxes and rocks placed on holes be pullable with the gloves? I've accidentally pulled a rock on a hole while pulling a chicken. It didn't cause glitch so I resumed my run.
Thanks for giving it a shot :)

Yeah, I had a hard time with the readability of some of the objects, and the propane tank was one of them. I also imagine that it looks different based on region. A popular brand by me is BlueRhino, which is where the bit of 'blue' on the tank came from:

This was a bit of a bug that came up during development but I figured I'd leave it in because I was hoping it would make the player feel like they are 'breaking the game' a bit, which is fun.
Thanks again for playing!
