Partly formed worlds are where it's at
Love the pouting beasty in the last one
thanks! these are some games i have started on, so may take awhile(years?) to actually be completed, i appreciate the comment! I have been learning to make games for about 3 years. It helps that im also an artist and musician!
The top one is a two player flying/fighting/supernatural battle where you battle each other in helicopters (either zoomed out flying or closeup with vampires vs werewolf in this shot.)
The second pic is a dragon game i was imagining involving being a dragon and battling knights and getting treasure and doing other obscure dragon activities.
The third is a scifi type game where your companion is a semi cyber giant cat/bear , and you also have a jetpack.
If these were all one game it would be pretty cool ! I will drop the link to my games on this forum as soon as i get one done. lexaloffle is a big inspiration to me, firstly jaspers journeys and now voxatron! thanks again!
Im learning to code in gamemaker, which uses gamemaker language (GML).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_Maker_Language - GML is structurally similar to C-based languages in its use of code blocks, function calls, variable assignments, operator syntax, and so on.
the only real problem with gamemaker i have at present is occasional horizontal tearing, but im hoping this along with other minor bugs will be worked out as gamemaker has come far in the last few years.
you do a bit of coding then?
I'm doing at least some C++ coding, but it's completely basic of basics, I still don't know newer stuff (yet, I didn't even made any kind of app, so basically nothing). About Game Maker, you should rather use C++ itself than GM as you could manage to learn real programming language than just using Game Maker which is kind of... obsolete for me. But it's up to you, not up to me.
thanks. yeah id love to end up doing actual c++ coding. Game Maker lets you use C++ (mostly) but buffers any errors a new person would make. So if you are new you can learn a little about coding. So its a learning curve thing. When i started i was using the Game Maker icons and shortcuts. Now i dont use any of the in house icons etc, just written code. I guess when i started coding seemed too too hard. Now its just a little tedious at times but actually fun!
I know what you mean about learning real programming language. But as for obsolete, Game Maker is okay by me because they are keeping up with the times, trying to go proffesional (GM now has a studio version and their games now port to iphone android and now also for Mac and also compatible with HTML5). I mean if Game maker was still just for PC id be in complete agreement!
Oh yeah, i heard bout that ouya kickstarter thing, and instantly thought of voxatron. dual joysticks in multiplayer mode anyone?
