! IMPORTANT !
It appears this might be a Windows specific solution, in order to launch it in the 3:1 aspect ratio it is intended for, you either have to type the following into a command line, have it in a batch file or as the target on a Windows Shortcut:
"cd C:\Program Files (x86) (*) \PICO-8\pico8.exe -displays_x 3 -displays_y 1"
(*) Part before star symbol dependent on your install location.
You cannot play the game on here (screen is limited to 1/3rd) and I sadly do not have a Linux machine to test out alternatives. You can play it straight from your browser at the itch.io page.
Heyo :D This is my first PICO-8 game and I do not have a lot of coding experience (first game I have programmed in general).
Nevertheless, I would vastly appreciate your feedback :) I am aware that aiming can get very hard when the other ships are far away, so an update or slight overhaul to the 3D to 2D projection system might follow.
Anywaes thamku for reading and I hop u enjoy :D
Running with those command line flags in Linux gave me this (same thing happens in full screen, but bigger - I wonder if those flags just aren't supported as well in Linux), but I checked it out on itch - pretty wild! I won, though I'm not sure how because I didn't fire at anything, I just hyperspaced a couple of times.
woah, that's very sick! only thing is i have no clue where i am at in space. but wow this is awesome!
Wow, this is crazy. Where on earth did you find this hidden command line option?
it was found last year (or before that?) and explored a bit on discord
Thanks yall :D For me personally, one of the professors at my university made me aware of it because he's trying to build a bar that is simultaneously a 3-player widescreen arcade game machine (big screen in the table), he built all of it to a mostly useable degree and is now searching for possibilities to put games on it :) But yea it's an undocumented feature that seems to have been undiscovered until last year, like merwok said ^^ I reckon there is no possibility to have it run in that ratio directly here on their site tho
