This was originally supposed to be my attempt at Weekly Game Jam #149, with the theme "Last One Left". Thanks to all of this lock-down business (future generations, look up 2020 on Wikipedia) I was going to have a go at making a game, when not working from home; however a migraine lost a couple of days' worth of time and I bailed out. Originally using Unity, then followed 2 years of being too busy / lazy / depressed to do anything, until the engine that PICO-8 provided was the excuse I needed to make a more compact game.
Cheers all
(update - v1.0.1 with a toilet block and historical facts)
Quite good, @CatInEightBytes. When I did earn hard difficulty level, the clock did not time out on me in normal level.
Tricky to remember everything that needs doing. Could not find that x10 secret door.
Other than that, I enjoyed this. Gold star work.
@dw817 many thanks for that, I'm glad you enjoyed it ^_^ (I'd have settled for "not immediately regretting all life choices")
And I'm pleased someone even got as far as finding out there might be a secret door!
Nice short game! The inventory troubled me when scrolling items but other than that it's manageable.
Just completed hard mode and couldn't seem to find any significant difference than standard mode.
@Bloodbane. The major difference was that you had to be out in two minutes or you miss your bus and lose, and the alarm turned on in 10 seconds in standard mode but only 5 seconds in hard mode.
@CatInEightBytes First of all, I love your CatInEightBytes logo screen. The game was pretty great, and had a lot of personality in such a tiny package. I can definitely relate to it. I was able to get both the Super Secret ending and the Super-er Secret-er ending. I love the mug collection thing. Had to look up the Battle of Hastings. Is that supposed to be common knowledge? The music and talking SFX are very good, too.
Anyway, great job. Looking forward to Super Vampire Adventure!
@Bloodbane @UnitVector thanks very much both of you ^_^ - yep as you say UnitVector that is indeed hard mode (Bloodbane you are just such a super-pro-gamer that hard mode didn't faze you!)
The Battle of Hastings: ah, now admittedly, I'm from the UK, and it's the default thing that kids were taught as a date in a history lesson. As such it's a lazy thing that loads of people here use as 4-number password. I perhaps hadn't thought of that in a global context.
Having said that: I like games where I can learn something subconsciously. But: I don't like really obscure moon-logic puzzles. So maybe in an update I'll include some other note to explain this - so In that regard, this feedback is very useful, many thanks ^_^
Hi all, v1.0.1 is now available, with a new toilet block and historical facts!
Really liked this. Inventive little game. I put together a quick video of it for my channel here:
Many thanks indeed! I did get to that video eventually ^_^
I mastered the art of locking up and was about to call it a day on this game until I realized "Wait, there's 7 endings??"
Nice little game and the secret ending was great
Yay! Many thanks. I hope finding out there were more endings was a good thing and not a bad thing!
Wait 7 endings!?! I got basic, basic hard, super-er secret-er, counting the fails, so 1 for normal and another for a missed bus, still 2 left? And me who thought I was done after hard mode...
@CatInEightBytes It's great because it adds replayability!
@Br3akdown3390 You're close! Here's a hint if you need it:
