a small game about a fish, made in 9 hr for Alakajam #17
left and right to wiggle
the river-flow should very slowly get faster / get as far as you can (the number of screens traversed is counted)
red spikes hurt / yellow scales give a bit more life / watch out for the light-blue currents / plants can block you, but only horizontally
(also my first 'finished' cart)
Good game, @remco.
I especially like how the fish is a bit of a paper plane when it is travelling across distances.
As for the red spikes, to prolong the game you could give the player 1-second of invulnerability once hit with the spikes - so they can get free.
In any case, interesting game. Gold star.
@dw817 Thanks for the kinds words!
Yes, some i-frames might be a good idea if I ever decide to take this a bit further (and up the difficulty a bit as well).
Very nice! I got 143 m as my best. I noticed that I began to bug through some things at that speed.
@loan wulf Thanks! Yes, the collision detection is (partially intentionally) very simple.
very interesting movement, because i have to think how a fish would swim.
i think that an adventure game variant of this game (it has finite levels) should also be a thing.
