This is absolutely wonderful. Love the music, the art, and the atmosphere. I'm still working my way to the top, but I'm hooked!

Help stuck on floor 50 please send snacks.
Edit:
I wonder how long it would theoretically take to reach the top. Past room 50, getting to the N'th floor at least once seems to take exponentially longer.

EditEdit:

On a floor with a side room full of skulls.
Been having strange visions lately, like people trapped in the walls, or myself dying for a split second. Sometimes the stairs simply disappear. Is it because the air is getting thinner, or am I going crazy?

2/19/2023:
I poked the [REDACTED] and suddenly felt a terrible headache. Coming here was a mistake, but maybe the return trip won't be so bad..

?/??/????:
Made it to the base, but something prevents me from leaving. Was I ever free?

This game is just DELICIOUS, @pancelor.

I like to sample turn-based adventure games such as these like a fine wine. And the bouquet this one exudes is heady and powerful indeed. Deeply rich and fascinating.

You have a lot to be proud of.

Simply lovely. Gold star and 💗 Favorited !

it's super cool. i like the effects and storyline but after floor 50 i kept going back up and down and never really made it past 60. i guess that's part of the game tho and i cheated anyway to get to the top.

I loved this. Felt similar to ummm-ok in that I eventually gave up.

I was tempted to go all the way down and try to exit, but that sounds like a pretty long commitment

OK now that I'm playing this a bit more already I am seeing a problem, @pancelor.

If there are indeed 100-floors, when you get to the 99th floor you will have a 1% chance of the door opening to stairs leading up.

Otherwise the stairs lead down.

It's up to you but you might add bonuses along the way that add 10 to your 1-100 so instead of 1-100 it is 1-110 or so.

I have gotten to floor #36 and ... I keep running into a number that is less than 36. Then I go back, I have to get a number higher than 35 and AGAIN it can choose a number less than 35. So then you have to go through 3-floors again with the value being higher than 34, 35, and finally 36.

I don't think people are going to want to try to get to floor #99 if there is only a 2% chance of the correct stairs appearing on floor #98.

I was thinking a one-time "lucky dice" option to roll the number you need would be nice, for those players who just wanna reach one more new room. Maybe something interesting could happen if it's used on the 100'th floor? 🙃

  • I have gotten to floor #36 and ... I keep running into a number that is less than 36

I know that feeling.. But for that room you can just leave without rolling. It's the subsequent floors that will start to test your patience, but at least the odds are in your favor to get higher for a little while.

btw I loved how the music & graphics become more corrupted the higher you go. Feels like I'm playing some unlabeled GB game out of a creepypasta.

I too will confess that I cheated my way up.

I cheated in two ways, actually. First, I modified the code to always roll a 100, but I kept doing the floors one at a time just to experience the whole thing in order, just with a lot more luck :). Once I got to floor 100, I messed around further. There's a variable in the code (e, I think?) that is used to hold the current floor. If you break out of the game, change e and then type resume, the game resumes on whatever floor you enter. But why stop at floor 100? e will happily accept higher values! So I toodled around on the very very glitchy upper floors that I'm pretty sure weren't meant to be explored. I think I went up to 105 before stopping.

I am stuck on Floor 53. Not in a "looping" way but that the stairs are gone. Am I missing something?

Try a reset and the stairs should return.

this. is. amazing!
i love the scanlines!
this game really feels like a bitsy game, in the way that there are 3 colors per level!

1

what's on floor number 100?

1

what's on floor number 100?!

1

You can go down the tower!?

Has anyone found any secrets?

This is the most beautiful game I've played in my life. Every single aspect of it is does something interesting. I've come to hate the dices because I'm replaying it from the start and I feel that's the ultimate "effort": going through all those stairs all over again. But maybe that's just me.
