Hi everyone!
I have finally found time to improve and finish the game "Swapply" I made for the Ludum Dare 51.
It now features 4 levels, a save system and some collectibles.

There is also a special end screen if you manage to complete the game :-)
The level design might be a bit tricky right now because I need to see some players testing the game in order to improve it and fix.
So feel free to send me any comments or screenshots if you are in trouble while playing!
Thank you very much and have a very nice day.

Fun in the beginning but edging towards frustrating near the end.
Exiting the stage was the most time-consuming part of level 1.
In level 2 It took a long time to get the pink guy across while I bounced the blue guy endlessly around the exit, and when pink finally reached the end blue missed the wall and had to do his section over :P

Matching their landing on the exit seems like the least interesting part of the game, so I suggest making the swapping mechanic manual when one of them reaches the exit, or disable swapping and then make it so either one can't reach the exit without the other also being able to.

agree, I'm gonna do this
I was also considering binding the switch to an input but you know, Ludum Dare theme...
and also I'd like to keep it as a "one button game"
thanks for your feedback and for having played that thing @Verb !

Oh, you started a new thread, @demicercle ?

Well I'll just repeat here what I said in the last.

What a uniquely intriguing and interesting game you have written here !

Took me a-while to understand but once I got it I finally started to progress through the dungeon hitting the switches so my companions could travel onward.

Exceptional work. Gold star and 💗 Favorited.

@dw817 merci beaucoup !
@Verb: do you think something like this will ruins the game? the character automatically goes back and forth when the goal is reached

@demicercle I'd be happy with that change. Then maybe cap their timer to like 2-3 secs while touching the exit to keep the action focused more on the other guy.

Updated the cartridge with fix on the levels: some of the spiders rooms where very hard indeed! Also the characters will stick to the exit door waiting for the other. If you press "Jump" then the counter will go to 0.

@Verb: I really love the idea of having an input to switch characters but it will change a lot of the design. So I stick on this because I don't have enough time to remake that game :-) but I keep the idea in mind for a "Swapply 2" maybe? On PS5...

Don't know if you have the space for it, @demicercle.

I like the way they stay by the door once they found it so you don't have to do tricky end timing.

You might add animation steps like dancing and break dancing before they both go in the door. Each one different from the other.

They did this in "Catrap" for instance.

The dark-haired girl does a high kick for her victory and if you choose the blonde-haired girl instead she jumps up and down in exuberance. :)

Just a thought.

I do like the idea of a dance @dw871!
Maybe I'll it when I'll have some time it will improve my pixel art skill!
Btw it's my first pixel art game, I'm more of a programmer/level designer than an "artist".
