Poker Squares Solitaire coded in 1kB (in 2 days) for PICO-1K Jam 2022.

This is the first time I've tried something like this.

Let me know if you find any bugs.

Rules

  • Cards are placed one at a time and can no longer be moved once placed.

  • Points are scored on poker hands of 5 cards formed in rows or columns. (order does not matter)

  • The goal is to get a score equal/higher than 100 or a high score.

I have a STRAIGHT here that is not registering.


@dw817 I believe you're not allowed to wrap around with aces in poker, A2345 is the lowest straight and AKQJ10 is the highest.

It is not very common but it is allowed and considered a valid hand provided the dealer permits it:

A wrap around straight is a straight that has an Ace somewhere in the middle of its structure, for example; QKA23. Wrap around straights are not legal hands according to the classic hand rankings system. However, they may sometimes be allowed in home games and some of the more exotic variants of poker.

As you, the dealer though, must decide if you want your game to permit it.

Also, is the "*" the club ?


Excellent! There was a version of this for the Commodore 64 from Compute!'s Gazette under the name "Power Poker" that I played frequently as a kid. Glad to play it again!
