Lemon Industries
Lemon Industries is a puzzle game inspired by Severance, a weird TV show (season 2 starts in January 2025!). In this game you work for Lemon Industries as a novice data sorter, and your task is to process files stored on a special computer by selecting and dropping numbers in certain boxes. Since not much is explained to you, try to find clues, observe, research and feel free to experiment.
Important: the game contains no spoilers and there are no actual references to the TV show! The visuals are similar but the content is not.
Controls and saving:
File selection:
- up, down and x
Data sorting:
- move around with left, right, up, down
- select or unselect last: x
- unselect all: x long press
- solve: o
- open menu: o long press
- select menu items (new set, exit): up, down and x
- close menu: o
The game saves every time you return to the file selection screen.

Very cool. I am a major Severance fan, and I love what you did here.
At first, I was trying to play it like the show, looking for "unsettling" numbers lol. Then I realized it is more of a traditional puzzle game. Still, very cool! The puzzles are quite challenging. I am about halfway through now.
I think I found a graphical glitch - by entering a diagonal, if you do it on the same frame (eg, up and right on the same frame), the camera and your selection move in different directions. See the gif below. This is not a big deal, but the first time I did it I thought I unlocked something, so maybe it should be patched out.
Very cool puzzle game! I loved the little messages. I am kind of hoping that there will be more - this game is begging for a little narrative on top of it, given the source material.
Thank you for the feedback:) Also, thanks for the precise description of the bug. It is a bug indeed, not a secret feature. I have updated the cart, no more diagonal movement (hopefully:)
Thank you for the screenshot, I uploaded a new version with a fix!
I really that subtle crt effect, and the few glitches. But I have no idea what to do :D
(I noticed you wrote a clamp() function, it already exists as mid() :p)
Oh thanks! So I can reduce my token count? Cool:)
Funny, this is my 3rd Pico-8 game, and every time I finished one, I realized I had clumsily written functions already existing in P8/lua. Moral of the story: I should read the manual more closely:)
About the puzzles: the filenames contain hints about what numbers to select. I was thinking about making an extra document with all the solutions. Then I decided I wouldn't. But maybe the puzzles are more difficult than I thought. Hmmm...
Hi! I have updated the cart: I have changed the narrative and freed up some tokens. The narrative is more straightforward now with a different point of view. Also, in the previous versions the narrative only appeared at startup - now it appears in-game as well, every time the player reaches certain levels of progress.
