Waterside (LOWREZJAM 2019)
Visit 4 different locations and vanquish foes. Each stage should take about 1 to 2 minutes.
- 4 unique bosses and a built-in speedrun timer.
- Choose between increasing your max life or your attack power after clearing a stage.
Game created for LOWREZJAM 2019, a game jam where you have to make a game fit within a 64 by 64 pixel resolution.
NOTE: Enemies come in waves, and their placements will always be the same. If you failed a stage, just keep replaying it and memorize the enemy positions.

Really good. I would add auto-fire to the sword. Hold it down to keep swinging. Other than that, nice, with bosses. Definite sense of completion per level.

I beat it under 300. Choice between hearts and damage was obvious, went with damage every time after seeing tougher skeletons on second stage and restarting. First doubling of damage from 1 to 2 is huge. If I play this again I'll probably take a peek at the code to figure out if the final +1 is worth at least 2 hearts since the final boss only takes 1 damage/hit.
I was annoyed with the game first, but it turned out to be a nice little game because every level had some twist.
For such a tiny low res game it had a very nice progression to it. First stage was like a tutorial and it's possible to land two hits on the boss slime before it jumps again if timed right. Bat boss especially seemed unfair at first, but only because I didn't realize that ducking in the corner works. Final level feel tough with both new enemies and the falling ice blocks.
Thought that maybe the clock should not reset when the player dies. Would be a better challenge.

The optimal upgrade path would probably be ATK, HP, HP
My best time so far.
ATK bonuses all the way, after completing the game it gets easier to dodge the enemies so health is not an issue.
