~ Please go play the original first! ~

A map mod for To a Starling, created in about 4 days after spending a bunch of time speedrunning and testing the bounds of the original. Toastling ramps up the difficulty on most screens, explores the orbs in some different ways, and recontextualizes the map visually. The only sprite edits were recoloring the berries and updating the title; anything in the map designs themselves was done by recombining existing sprites from the sheet!

The original game was created by Peteksi,
With music by Gruber,
And testing by rebix!

There's a discord for speedrunning the original game, feel free to stop in and say hi!

Mini-update 1.13.22: Changed cartdata() reference to not overlap the original game.

I played through To a Starling once before, and I decided to jump right into this.

Maybe I should have done some more playthoughs of the original...

@hahhah42 Still a decent time, and congrats for getting through it! From the few folks that I've seen times from, first playthroughs seem to be in this range :)

Wow nice!

reaallly hard; felt kinda uneccessary at points. But I stuck through it, and it was a ton of fun! well done

I hope that this is all the berries in this mod, I cant go through this game again without a broken hand...

@Hexit45 That's all of them, yep. Good job! Now go rest your hands ;)

@pancelor: Absolutely fair about the difficulty. I enjoyed letting things be as difficult as the designs wanted to be, but I appreciate that it's a bit... off-putting, aha.

oh, I liked the difficulty for most of it! I just remember this room in particular felt out of place to me

(but replaying it now I see that it helps teach something for the next room -- I thought the next room required going through the spikes, which also felt unnecessary, but now I see the intended solution!)

Although I hated the game for trying to get all the berries...

The game is actually really fun!

It gave me celeste vibes and the levels really made it more of a puzzle platformer which I really enjoyed!
