So it turns out that fancy new flail you picked up in this dungeon is mega cursed and now it's trying to kill you. Whoops.

This was made in 48 hours for the 2021 GMTK Game Jam. The theme was "Joined Together," so I took inspiration from the trope of cursed weapons being impossible to unequip and ran with it to make a game about trying to dodge a hostile weapon that's tethered to you while tricking it into cooperating so you can progress.
All code, design, and assets are my own work.

This is awesome! Everyone come play this game! I haven't finished it yet but this is a really cool mechanic and it's just fun to play. The tension of the chain and how you can slightly pull the flail around feels really good, and the visuals are cool too.

Yeah adding the ability to pull the flail around was hugely important for getting the game to feel right (and even be playable, to be honest - it was really fiddly or even impossible to get some positioning to work without it).
This is an amazing idea really well executed. I got to a certain point where I just could not get any further. I really wanted to see the end but after falling off the switching platforms about 30 times I gave up.
This is soooo good. Pico-8 has proven to be a treasure trove of unique game concepts. The only thing that's preventing me from really enjoying this is a level save feature. It would be great if the game remembered by place if I have to exit.
This gives me some ideas for my very own game. Thanks man :D
