Help Marcel reach their friend to chill while the hero is away!
This is my first take at making a platformer. I spent all my time and effort on getting a character controller that felt good, so the story and visuals are very bare-bones (pun not intended but let's roll with it).
Controls
- Arrows to run
- O/X to jump
The music can be turned off in the pause menu
Tips
- The longer you press the jump button, the higher you jump
- During a wall slide, you can detach from the wall by pressing the down button
- Similarly, you can go through one-way platforms by pressing the down button
- Spikes don't hurt you if you move away from them
- Collecting all flowers isn't mandatory
Please let me know what you think!
Changelog
- 1.0: Initial release
- 1.1: Fixed the cover image
- 1.2: Made the last area accessible after finishing the game
I'm playing and loving it! It would be a nice improvement if the slide down velocity when touching the walls were faster and if press a direction button (against the wall) the velocity be as it is.
edit: I just realized that it is possible to press down to release the wall to grab it again when releasing it. Anyway it was a thought I had while playing.
This is pretty dang good, especially for a first platformer! The platforming was a good level of difficulty (a tad janky but that was part of the fun and allowed for some interesting challenges), and the flowers were a real challenge! I only managed to get half of them.
I quite liked the music too! It was a little repetitive by the end but was still very good, a nice spooky chill vibe, charming like the story and the game itself.
Good luck with future projects!
Thanks you all for your feedback!
@nicegame Glad you like it! And yeah, detaching/regrabbing the wall is the way to go! (could be a little bit too tricky though, I might revisit that in future games)
@Munchkin Thank you so much! Including music was one of my main goals for this game, as I didn't do it in my previous cartridge. Happy you liked it!
@[Error_27] Thank you!
Excellent platformer. The level design is on point. Hard but rewarding. Love it!
I like the choice of slow wall falling by default, down arrow to let go. Good platform mechanics and devious level design. Gold star. My first playthrough:
Short and sweet. The basic platforming itself is usually fairly easy, but a few of the flowers I collected were way harder than anything else, in a good way. The levels had a fun flow to them and the aesthetics were very fitting, too.
@towerschool22 Thank you!
@Cowirrie Happy you like it!
@Rascal Oh wow, all 12 flowers in under 15 minutes? That's impressive, congratulations!
Controls feel wanky and turning feels slow,
wall jumps are chef’s kiss tho
