"Distant Galaxy" catapults players back to the golden era of arcade gaming, rekindling the nostalgia of classics like Galaga and Space Invaders. Embark on a cosmic journey as a fearless fighter pilot, armed with powerful missiles and a heart full of courage (5 heart-fulls to be exact!). Prepare to traverse the uncharted realms of the universe, where the stars twinkle in 8-bit brilliance and the galaxies hum with an energetic chip-tune soundtrack.

In Distant Galaxy, you'll face off against legions of adorable yet menacing alien hordes as you bob and weave through the chaos of their attacks. But beware – the universe is not all fun and games. Encounter disgusting mini-bosses and colossal cyclops commanders, and put your reflexes to the test as you navigate the cosmic battlefield. So, gear up, pilot – the universe awaits your pixelated heroics in this heart-pounding, eye-catching, and downright fun blast from the past!

  • 15 levels
  • 10 alien species, each with different behaviors, health and points
  • Sub boss, mini boss and big boss battles
  • Collect powerups and fire up to 10 at once to deal massive damage
  • If you're health is below 5 hearts, collect 10 powerups for an extra heart

Good variety in the enemies here. Gold star. Thank you for including the "refueling station" levels. My first run, although I'm sure it's possible to do much better:

Thanks for the positive feedback! I thought the refueling station was a nice idea, I'm glad it's well received. That's a great score, did you beat the final boss? That gives me an idea on also listing what level a player made it to (if they don't beat the big boss). Glad you liked it!

Great job!

I think I would have preferred to have a separate health pickup instead of 10 weapon pickups giving a health. Been a couple times where I was saving up for a big weapon and got hit so it turned into health.

Thanks @washburnello, this is an interesting point. I was trying to keep things simple, and give a little more control over the ability to power health back up vs dropping random hearts. Thanks for the feedback!

Looks good buddy! Added to the collection.

Thanks @Nighted

Oh man, I love this. At first I though it would be so simple, but the difficulty ramped so smoothly I didn't notice how crazy things got after just a few levels.

I like the big chunky bullets, they feel like they have some weight to them.

Seems short enough that going back to the start doesn't feel like a huge punishment, so I keep wanting to push further.
Only got to second boss, but I'll come back to this when I've got access to a controller :)

Thank you @Godmil, it's really rewarding to hear the difficulty was satisfying, it was probably the hardest balance of the whole game. I had a ton of fun designing the different behaviors of the aliens. Really appreciate the comments!

I like your enemy design

Thanks @arrowonionbelly! I had a ton of fun creating all the enemy behaviors.
