affirm8 is a small affirmation app built for PICO-8.

This version is an early preview of the project.
It is currently in German and still in development.

affirm8 – a free, minimalist affirmation app

This weekend I was looking for a free, simple app for affirmations.
I was disappointed to find that almost every app I tried tried to funnel me into a subscription trap.

So I sat down and made my own.
affirm8 is a tiny PICO-8 project designed to help me rebuild self-trust, calm, and inner clarity — one sentence at a time.

✨ What is affirm8?

affirm8 is a calm, low-res affirmation app for PICO-8.
It displays one affirmation at a time, gently animated, with a starry sky in the background.
No ads. No account. No subscription.

It’s just:

  • words
  • space
  • and you 🌿

🧪 About this version

This is an early German test version.
I built it for personal use — to test whether daily affirmations in this format feel good and useful over time.

If you’re dealing with self-doubt, mental health challenges, ADHD, burnout or emotional overload...

🔧 Add your own affirmations

affirm8 is open source and fully customizable.

You can open the cartridge and edit the list.

✏️ How to customize the affirmations

You can easily add, remove, or change affirmations in the code.

  1. Open the cartridge in PICO-8 and view the code by pressing ESC.

  2. Scroll down to the list that starts with:

affirmations = {
"i am enough.",
"i allow myself to rest.",
...
}

Edit the lines to include your own phrases.

Save and run the cartridge again.

✨ That's it! Your own affirmations will now appear in the app. ✨
