Haha! They even nicked my game!

How low can you get.

They've even put copies here:
http://www.freeworldgroup.com/g/i/asset-reuse-invaders.htm

and this site which is a ripoff of that site:
http://www.gamsanywhere.com/g/i/asset-reuse-invaders.htm

I think I'm flattered? Maybe?

Since multicart loading is a thing why not use that feature to make your own "Lockout chip" or some other way of passing unique identifier to the game code that couldn't be exploited on said sites? Hell, Maybe a tiny bit of api that the games could check what website they're being run on for legitimacy?

Because defeating such a mechanism would take less effort than it took to implement it in the first place.

That's pretty much always the case with DRM.

Just a note on this since the subject of Copyright etc has been touched here.

Doing DMCA takedowns is actually possible and doesn't take much effort. Contact the webhost abuse with a proper DMCA email. That mostly does the trick, and you don't have to bother with getting in touch with the site-owner.

Even a "free" game is of course copyright protected at the moment of creation, as everything else.

I've done this in several times in the past (and will most certainly have to many more times in the future) for other stuff I own, and it usually takes around 48 hours if the email is properly done.

Yeah also this site seems to be doing that - http://gamesng.com/

I haven't made games yet, so I would not be pirate-able until I make one

I've found a site that has pirated games, and gives NO credit at all, not even the PICO-8 engine on the most recent one! It's on https://www.coolmathgames.com/, and the games of subject include: Krazjeg's "Slipways," "Dark Tomb," and "Pieces of Cake," CarlosPedroso's "Picoban," bridgs' "Just One Boss," and NuSan's Pico Craft (or P.Craft) under the name "Stranded Isle," but has credit to NuSan. Krazjeg's "Dark Tomb" has the credits still there, too, but unless they have directly asked for permission, they shouldn't be making ad revenue from it, and making BIG lag at the same time.

I have just recently gotten a Switch copy of the Celeste Team's "Celeste," and saw the reference to the original game, and had looked up PICO-8 out of curiosity, and have been browsing the forums for a while, but when seeing this forum, I remembered unwittingly playing some PICO-8 games (Slipways, P.Craft, Just One Boss, and Dark Tomb) after remembering seeing them on both CoolMath and here. I believe that they have committed two crimes. Piracy and Ad Lag. (The latter being minor.) So, I've decided to share this information to those who want it.

This is my first big comment on the PICO-8 forums, so I think that I might as well introduce myself with a pop. (Not a bang, as it is a pop.) I also might be (or have been) seen playing other games as "TheTepigMaster," "TheTepigMaster456," "TepigMaster," "Thomulous Weaver," "TheTepigMaster21," and "Damian Naimad." I love the engine and all the absolutely AMAZING work people have put into these games. I hope to someday, when I get a bit older, to get a copy of PICO-8 and/or Voxatron. Also, I hope you have a Good Friday! (Though it's nighttime, whatever, so I can pun.)

Also, can someone help me determine how to use the hidden thing?

Here are 3 more sites I've found that post PICO-8 games without providing credit:
http://www.friv-games-today.com/game/11600/night-fright-flight.html
https://www.y8.com/games/night_fright_flight
http://www.yibba.com/games/averywarmfire.html?m3
All those links are for my games but I'm sure there's more.

@Jusiv Good news! I checked out the Y8 link and itch has made it so that it detects if it was stolen from itch to another website, and lets the player know it was taken. I think they haven't noticed yet.

After seeing this even though I looked worried that my hardwork has been stolen... umm andd I'm sure I have no power to defend against it other than to keep on doing stat(102) checks...

Oh right, I forgot about stat(102)! Obvious but not obvious at the same time. Huh.

They left links to me and my game but still it’s quite a bummer that such a thing is happening without even so much as consent from any of us. I wouldn’t personally mind my game being hosted elsewhere but at the very least let me know. It’s sad :/
