The new export option is amazing, so I started messing with three.js (a webgl library) to use it with Pico 8.
And it works, so I made a simple proof of concept by drawing the pico 8 output in a sort of cathodic display style. The next step will be to import a 3D model of a computer screen or maybe an arcade cabin. So we can finaly see this great fantasy console.
Feel free to use the source code and mess with it. You can change your game just by replacing the game .js by the one exported from Pico 8.

That's really cool. I will check the source code later

Very cool!

Awesome old screen effect !

Awesome! Could you make it like old arcade cabinet with joystick and two buttons that responds to pico keypresses (joystick moves and keys get up/down)?

Also distorting it a bit so it looks like it is actually displayed on CRT, non-flat display would be awesome as well.

About that arcade cabinet thing, that's not entirely my idea, there was earlier demo like that, though AFAIK joystick/buttons were just decorations and didn't respond to key presses.

//edit: Whoops, didn't read whole thread. Although when making arcade cabin, make it so we can easily retexture it for our game (Sane UV, template "skin" file, etc.).

Yeah, I imagine you can do something like what Iron Maiden did to promote their song Speed of Light, that would be pretty cool.

Yes, I think I could make it easily customizable to change the cabinet theme.
In a perfect world, I would even make a complete arcade room, with several Pico games ^^
I like the Iron Maiden game, I didnt know it.
