Scrolling Starfield

A quick port of my scrolling starfield PICO-8 tweetcart to help me get to grips with Picotron. Suitable as either a wallpaper or a screensaver.

To install:

run load #starscroll-0#
run save /appdata/system/wallpapers/stars.p64.png to use it as a wallpaper, or save /appdata/system/screensavers/stars.p64.png to use it as a screensaver (remember to create or copy those folders if you haven't done so yet)

There are fifteen people waiting to board... but only six seats left.

Talk to the passengers, then decide who to save and who to leave behind. Some passengers’ fates may change depending on who else you save, so multiple playthroughs are recommended.

There's too much debris in Earth's orbit! Surf into space on your trusty star and blast that pesky debris away!

Use the arrow keys to move, and press/hold Z to fire. You have 75 seconds to score as many points as you can:

+1pt for each piece of debris you destroy.
-1pt for each piece of debris you miss.
-5pts if a piece of debris hits you.

Star Surfer was made in just 1001 compressed bytes for the PICO-1K Jam.

A simple juggling game I made for the PICO-1K Jam. Move Juggle Cat using the arrow keys and bounce the white balls to keep them in the air, while avoiding the red bombs. The game tracks your highest score - can you beat my best of 46?

Juggle Cat clocks in at 614 compressed bytes, and only 978 characters in total! This is my first attempt at a super-compressed game and I'm pleased with how well it turned out.

CHANGELOG:

2019/10/12: Further collision detection fixes.
2019/10/10: Fixed the bar exit so it no longer glitches you into a wall.
2019/10/09: I fixed an error that caused the game to sometimes not progress past the logo screen, and added collision detection to the traffic cones so you can no longer glitch out of bounds.

The gods are angry. The mountain has awoken. You are a human sacrifice, and your mission is to travel to the mountain and throw yourself into its volcanic crater. Success will mean your death, but if you fail, your tribe is surely doomed...

Created in 48 hours for Ludum Dare 43. Original Compo version is at the bottom of the page.

UPDATE [03/01/2019]: Implemented all the post-jam fixes and improvements from the Newgrounds version. I've been alerted to another bug that needs fixing but that'll have to wait for now.

My Ludum Dare 42 entry. AsterVoid is an Asteroids-style game with a twist: each destroyed asteroid leaves behind a "void" in space that you can't fly through. Dodge the asteroids and the ever-growing void, and try and rack up a high-score!

Fixed the various boss fight glitches, such as the game not ending when you run out of health, the menu cursor not aligning properly, and the health bar going into the negatives. I won't be updating the game again until after LD41 is over.

My entry for LD41, finished (if not quite polished) after a hard night of debugging. It's also my first-ever completed PICO-8 game. So proud of myself for getting this done within the Compo deadline, even if I'm gonna be short on sleep for work tomorrow...

'Love Is A Battlefield" combines a bullet-hell shooter with a dating sim. On the surface, it's a game about shooting hearts at coloured circles while your date asks you if you know who Pat Benatar is for the sixth time. Deep down, though, it's about helping others to deal with their insecurities and break down their emotional barriers.

I hope you enjoy it, and feedback is appreciated, especially since this is my first PICO-8 game and the code is probably a horrendous mess!

I stumbled across PICO-8 a few days ago and decided that I had to try it out. This is my first PICO-8 cartridge, just to get to grips with it. I started out following the TRON lightcycle tutorial on YouTube, but then inspiration struck me halfway through so I made this instead.

Pretty simple program, really. Use the arrow keys to draw, and Z/X to cycle through the colour palette. Black works like an eraser, and you can also use it to create gaps between drawings, like the letters in the thumbnail. I know it's kinda fiddly, but so is an actual Etch-a-Sketch :P

Probably could've put this in the "Completed Cartridges" section tbh, as there's not much room for expansion or improvement on a program this simple, but I didn't think it was big enough to warrant it. Maybe later.
